Working, Working, Working...

That is what I have been doing in anticipation of the upcoming school year. I am so excited to be joining the Robert E. Lee family aa 5th grade teacher. I have been hard at work getting ready for my wonderful students to arrive.

am originally from Winchester, but actually lived in Madison, AL for almost eight years. I graduated in May 2006 with a degree in Elementary Education. I taught 5th & 6th grade in Madison before becoming a stay at home mom to my daughter, Anna Claire who will attend PreK this year. My husband, daughter and I moved back to Winchester in June of 2010.

I have enjoyed every minute of being home with my daughter and have been truly blessed by having the opportunity to stay home with her, but I have truly missed having my own classroom and seeing students come in and out of my door each day...
I miss the ones who are hesitant about what the day will bring,
the ones who are so eager to learn they come early each day,
the ones who are reluctant to open up,
the ones who just come because they have to,
and even the ones who love to talk.

Being a teacher comes naturally to me. I come from a family of teachers, but most of all I truly have a heart for all children...
The shy one who rarely speaks to the other children,
the bubbly one who always has something positive to say,
the overly cautious one afraid of making a mistake,
the talkative one who likes to speak up at any time,
and even the mischievous one who likes to be sneaky.

In my eyes, they are my "school children" for the year, and I care about them all equally despite of all of their quirky personalities. To me, each one of them brings a special characteristic and without each one our "family" wouldn't be the same. So, as summer break draws to a close, I cannot be anything but ecstatic about what the school year has to bring.
